ARGENTINA
The second homeland to Italians

Candela Y Tiziano

Argentina received more than two millions Italians between 1876 and 1925, most of whom were men, young and strong, and came with the desire of "fare l'America", that someone had the wisdom to call "Italians second country". Nor is therefore "La Prensa"(Argentinean Newspaper) to say, January 4 1881, referring to the European community that Argentina was receiving at that time, “no one influence to the destiny of the Republic as the Italians did, by the number that multiplies the energy of their action and by the splendour of their intelligence”
These pioneers of Argentina contributed, effectively and generously, to that "energy action" and that "splendour of intelligence." But they also were privileged witnesses and hard-working players in the event of Two Worlds, which confront the difficult voyage to the oceans as the Genoese Christopher Colombo, the Florentine Amerigo Vespucci, Vicentino Antonio Pigafetta, the Venetian Sebastiano Caboto and like many other Italians illustrious or anonymous but always bold, confident that at the end of the road would certainly true Dante confirmation: “Se tu segui tua stella, non puoi fallire a glorioso porto” (“If you follow your star, you cannot fail a glorious port”)
