The Italian
Folkloristic Group (GFI) of Buenos Aires, began its activities in September
1969, in order to promote and disseminate culture and folk traditions
of various regions of Italy.

in September 1969, in order to promote and disseminate culture and folk
traditions of various regions of Italy.
Within the GFI repertoire, exhibits dances and songs of northern and southern
Italy, enriched by the variety and their colourful costumes. Since 1972
the GFI belongs to the “Circulo Internacional del Folklore”
of Buenos Aires and to the “Italian Federation of Popular Traditions”
in Rome since 1975.
In the year 1980 received the prize "Felice Lora" awarded by
the Coliseum Foundation and in 1996 receives the prize "San Marco
D'oro", for its work in favour of Italian culture.
In 1990 the GFI appears in the book 'The Marangon "(Panorama of the
Italian culture in Argentina)
In 2006 part of the book 'The Italian Cologne' (His contribution to the
defence and the evolution of the country since the late nineteenth century)

The group performs about 50 performances a year in the area around the
Argentine territory, at parties at the national and provincial television
channels, theatres, sports and cultural societies.
